What is BingoMania?

BingoMania is a major fundraising event of the Mardela Middle & High School Band; it is a huge night of bingo that boasts high stakes, varied bingo game formats, pull-tab holder tickets, and various door prizes and raffles.

Typical attendance is 700 to 1000+ bingo players that have historically come from MD, DE, VA, PA, NJ, and beyond.
.
Where & When

BingoMania will be held 4 times during the 2017-18 school year (Sept 23, Nov 4, Feb 3, and April 7) at the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center (http://www.wicomicociviccenter.org/about.aspx?id=128) in Salisbury, MD.
.
What are the Logistics of conducting BingoMania?

It takes about 70 adult assistants to properly man each event. All jobs are quickly explained and easily performed. Parents and 16+year-olds are needed to sell holder tickets to assigned tables (15-20 ppl), sell early-birds and special games (15-20 ppl), and attend tables as cashiers/attendants. All jobs are quickly explained and easily performed.
.
How is the funding used?

Funding from BingoMania has contributed to the cash purchases of new HS Band, Majorette, Pom and (most recently) Flag Uniforms, MS Band Shirts, Drumline and Harnesses, and a variety of instruments, including a New Sousaphone, E-flat Soprano Clarinet, Soprano Saxophone, Euphoniums, and Trombones. It has allowed the Band-Aides, Inc. to purchase Intermediate-Professional Flutes (2013), Clarinets, Alto & Tenor Saxophones (2015), Trumpets (2013), Trombones (2012), and Baritones for use in the HS Symphonic Band. 7-12 Grade students are not charged for the use of these instruments, and the Band-Aides pays the yearly $40 rental fee required by the Wicomico County Board of Education when students use county-owned instruments (this includes ALL percussionists, grades 7-12). It also has provided transportation, meals, and rooms for the Marching Warriors as they competed in the Winchester, VA, Apple Blossom Festival (estimated $200 per student—at no cost to performers and chaperones). Other moneys go out for Instrument Maintenance, Private Lesson Reimbursements, Scholarships, Incentive Trip, Awards Ceremony and Holiday Dance, Sports Groups and other Student Organizations. Any portion of these many purchases would be a challenge and involve additional fundraising, donation activities, or fees.
.
Special Note about Under 16-ers

By law, the number of children under 16 must be limited and separated from the main action. THERE IS NO WORK FOR UNDER-16ERS to do at this event; please make other arrangements for them separate from this event.

Final Thoughts

Helpers almost universally find the experience enjoyable and enlightening. Wear good walking shoes (and a pedometer) and comfortable clothing. Come to the Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center by 4:30pm so that organization and training can be completed before the doors open for players at 5pm. Most parents are free to leave around 9:30p. COME OUT AND BE A PART OF THE TEAM IN THIS FUNDRAISER THAT PROVIDES FOR OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAMS LIKE NO OTHER FUNDING SOURCE ON THE EASTERN SHORE.
